Residents of southeast Centralia gathered for a block barbecue at the Life Center parking lot, Field and Chestnut streets, Aug. 5.
In addition to getting to know their neighbors and eating good food, the people who participated also got close-up looks at vehicles used by the Centralia Police Department and Riverside Fire Authority.
Emergency vehicles arrived at the event with sirens blaring and lights flashing. The parade included a motorcycle, two squad cars, a SWAT vehicle and fire truck.
The event was held in conjunction with Aug. 4’s National Night Out.
