The Centralia College women’s soccer team handed Pierce its second defeat of the season on Sunday, holding off a late Raider push to win 3-2.

The Trailblazers (4-5, 3-4 NWAC) only tallied three shots in the first 45 minutes, but they scored on all three of them.

Just over two minutes in, Ceirra Larson found the back of the net, and Hannah Robbins doubled the advantage just seven minutes later. In the 39th minute, Rubi Serrato made it 3-0.

Pierce (9-2-2, 6-2 NWAC) shifted gears in the second half, however, as Kaylee Mithun got the Raiders on the board just five minutes into the half. Thirteen minutes later, Tatiana Scheidt got them within one.

The Raiders kept pushing for an equalizer, but the Trailblazers defense and keeper Melina Grijalva were able to hold on for the win.

Grijalva had five saves on the day, with four of them coming in the second half.

The Trailblazers are back in action at Bob Peters Field on Wednesday, as they’ll host Tacoma at 2 p.m.

Centralia equalizes late, draws with Pierce

The Centralia men’s soccer team also hosted Pierce on Sunday, and the two sides played to a 1-1 draw.

Scoring chances were few and far between in the first half, as the only shot on goal was saved by CC keeper Victor Rojas.

The Trailblazer offense got into a rhythm in the second half, but it was the Raiders who got on the board first. In the 58th minute, Ethan Shoemaker scored on what would end up being Pierce’s only shot of the second half.

Centralia (3-5-4, 2-4-3 NWAC) kept applying pressure, however, and in the 73rd minute, Tristin Evans scored the game-tying goal. The Trailblazers tallied six shots on goal in the second half, but never knocked in a winner.

While the draw did snap the Trailblazers two-game losing streak, Centralia is now on a four-game winless streak (0-2-2), one they’ll look to snap on Wednesday.

They’ll head to Vancouver to take on Clark at 4:15 p.m.
