A Castle Rock man was arrested as a fugitive for allegedly making death threats against the chief of the Atlanta Police Department.

According to a Longview Police Department report, officers from Longview arrested Terrence Jamal Stevens, 27, on May 15 after a detective from the Atlanta Police Department contacted an officer in Longview.

Stevens is accused of making death threats to Atlanta’s police chief both online and over the phone. He was wanted for making terroristic threats, which is a felony in Georgia.

The police report does not specify when the threats were made or Stevens’s motive behind them. According to the Atlanta Police Department’s website, Darin Schierbaum is currently the police chief, having held the position since October 2022.

Court records show Stevens has posted bail and has been assigned a public defender. He has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled for a Cowlitz County Superior Court hearing on July 10.
