Cases Remain Steady as Hospitalizations for COVID-19 Double in Lewis County

In its weekly report, Lewis County Public Health & Social Services noted 109 new COVID-19 cases from Aug. 5 to Aug. 11, just six more cases than in the previous reporting period.

Public Health counted 18 new COVID-related hospitalizations, more than double the eight reported between July 29 and Aug. 4. 

In the same period, one new death was tallied.

The county is not able to include cases discovered through at-home testing.



There is currently one active outbreak in congregate care settings countywide, which is a decrease from the previous week.

At the Lewis County Mall testing site in the most recent weekly update, 170 individuals had been tested; 11,749 tests have been administered since the site opened on Nov. 26, 2021.

According to the county, 57.6% of all residents had initiated their primary COVID-19 vaccination series and 52.3% of all residents had completed their primary vaccination series as of the most recent update.
