Winlock took both ends of a doubleheader in Morton on Friday, topping Morton/White Pass 4-1 and 8-2 in a pair of road victories.

MWP got on the board first in Game 1 with a run in the top of the first, but Carter Svenson settled in nicely and pitched into the seventh. He ended up giving up just two hits and the unearned run while walking four and striking out 14 in six and two-thirds.

Offensively, most of his run support came late.

The Cardinals tied the game at one in the fourth, but didn’t take the lead until they plated three runs in the seventh. Kyrin Meehan went 2 for 4 with a double and drove in two runs, and Liam Groves also went 2 for 4 with a double.

Groves also entered the game in relief in the seventh, picking up the final out of the game.

Peyton Shields pitched the first six innings for MWP, giving up just three hits and an unearned run while walking three and striking out 11.

Liam Pelletier hit a double and scored a run, and Carson Fleetwood collected the T-Wolves’ other hit.

Winlock took the lead in Game 2 with a four-run second, and they added four more runs over the next three innings to build upon its lead.

MWP (2-10, 2-8 C2BL) will head to South Bend next Friday, April 10 for a doubleheader against Raymond/South Bend, while Winlock (4-6, 4-6 C2BL) will host Onalaska on Wednesday, April 15.
