The Winlock girls basketball team lost its second straight game on Tuesday, as the Cardinals fell 51-33 in Stevenson.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 14-4 lead after one quarter of play, and they more than doubled their advantage in the second to take a 34-13 lead into the locker room.

Winlock (1-2) played better in the second half, outscoring the Bulldogs 20-17, but it wasn’t enough to bridge the gap.

“The team had a slow start and did not rebound well from mistakes made early on in the game,” Winlock coach Dracy McCoy said. “In the second half, they came out more confident.”

Adriana Garcia scored nine points on three 3-pointers, while Tori Sancho and Kindyl Kelly added six each. Natalie Cardens also tallied five points.

The Cardinals will hit the road again on Friday, when they’ll make the trip to Morton to face Morton-White Pass.
