Centralia’s Jesus Campos won five matches in two days at one of the premier high school wrestling events in the state, taking first at 120 pounds at Gut Check at the ShoWare Center in Kent.

The senior won his first match by fall and his second by technical fall, then won by major decision to get into the semifinals. One more technical fall over O’Dea’s Anthony Nguyen put him into the championship, where he beat out Logan Lau — a state champion in Hawaii last season — by decision, 4-3.

Elsewhere in the boys’ tournament, Black Hills’ Khristian Brant was fifth at 138, while teammate Roberto Rivera-Jesus was sixth at 113.

On the girls’ side, Centralia’s Eva and Ramona Reinitz were fifth and sixth, respectively at 115. W.F. West’s Lia Horby was fourth at 135, while Aurora Martin was fifth at 125 and Kaylee Lehman and Brooke Johnston were fifth and eighth, respectively, at 130.
