The 15th annual Capitol Region Buddy Walk is set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct 7, at the Lacey Regional Athletic Complex.

The Buddy Walk is a one-mile walk in which anyone can participate.

“It is a great community event that celebrates the many abilities and accomplishments of people with Down syndrome,” organizers wrote in a news release. “Having our own local Buddy Walk has special meaning to the families and organizations which support individuals with Down syndrome living in Thurston and surrounding counties.”

The Buddy Walk will be held at the Lacey Regional Athletic Complex, Shelter C, 8345 Steilacoom Road SE, Olympia. The Buddy Walk initiates the celebration of National Down Syndrome Awareness Month.

“Please join with us as we share our message, ‘We are all in — Up with Down Syndrome,’” organizers wrote.

Registration begins at 10:30 a.m.

Organizers are asking participants to bring one non-perishable food item to donate to the Thurston County Food Bank.
