The Lewis County Bar Association hosted a swearing-in ceremony for a new attorney, Brooke Bassetti, in Lewis County Superior Court on Friday, April 18.

Bassetti will be joining the JBJ Law Group, with her practice focusing on family law.

JBJ Law Firm is a family law firm serving Lewis and Thurston county areas, with a focus on child custody, child support and asset litigation, according to the firm’s website.

“You’ve been around in this community for a long time. You’ve been in this legal community. You’ve been among attorneys in this legal community. So, I’m confident that you know what this is all about, what you’re getting yourself into,” said Lewis County Superior Court Judge J. Andrew Toynbee, who swore Bassetti in on Friday. “But now you’re a member of the local bar, of the statewide bar, and with that comes, I think, a high degree of honor … and you’re extremely deserving.”

According to her LinkedIn profile and the Washington State Bar Association, Bassetti worked as a paralegal for Buzzard O’Rourke Attorneys at Law in Centralia for two years before she passed the bar exam in February 2025.

“I have worked very hard for a very long time to get to this point, and I’m just honored to be surrounded by everyone in this room and to be a part of this profession. It has been a lifelong dream of mine, so thank you,” Bassetti said during her swearing in ceremony on Friday.
