Boistfort Lions Club Walk N Knock scheduled for Dec. 2

On Saturday, Dec. 2 at 10 a.m., the Boistfort Lions Club will conduct its annual Walk N Knock to collect money and nonperishable food items for the Pe Ell Food Bank.

Volunteers from the club and from local schools will visit each home in the Boistfort Valley. Those who won’t be home when volunteers arrive may leave a bag of food items on the porch to be picked up.

“Your generosity in the past has been overwhelming and demonstrates a very sharing community,” wrote event organizer Barry Panush in an announcement.

Last year, Panush said, the Walk N Knock event gathered more than 2,500 pounds of food for the Pe Ell Food Bank.

For those outside the Boistfort area whose houses won’t be knocked on this Saturday, Panush recommends mailing a check to the Salvation Army, a food bank or a local Lions Club.

Students looking to collect high school community service requirements and any other interested volunteers should gather at the Boistfort Fire Station at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday to be involved.

“What’s neat is you get the younger generation out there donating and giving, and it’s just really good training,” Panush previously told The Chronicle.
