A body found in the Columbia River Friday evening is presumed to be a missing 18-year-old, Vancouver police said in a statement.
Franky Fred was last seen May 23 near Vancouver Lake, and some of his belongings were found nearby on a Columbia River beach.
At about 5:30 p.m. Friday, people reported seeing a body in the river near the 6300 block of Northwest Lower River Road. Vancouver police and the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office recovered the body. The medical examiner needs to confirm the identity of the body, but it is believed to be Fred, police said.
