Blazers ‘Run Out of Gym’ in Loss to Edmonds

The Centralia College men’s basketball team saw another solid first half turn into a blowout loss Saturday, falling to Edmonds 104-75.

“The second half, we got out-worked in every facet,” CC coach Jason Moir said.

The Blazers jumped out to an early lead in the first half before the game settled into a back-and-forth pattern, and when the halftime buzzer sounded, Edmonds led 49-45.

But out of the break, the Tritons’ press started to land, speeding up Centralia’s offense. The Blazers finished with 22 turnovers, 16 of which came in the second half, leading to a heaping of fastbreak points. Edmonds also outrebounded Centralia 50-22 — complete with 21 offensive rebounds.

“All in all, we just got ran out of the gym in the second half, and we didn’t compete,” Moir said. “We must come back to work next week and get refocused. (We’ll be) hammering defense and rebounding in practice.”

Ray Guillory led the Blazers with 20 points and 10 rebounds — accounting for nearly half of his team’s boards by himself. Adrian Brown had 12 points, and freshman Tre’vion Frazier added 10 points and three steals.

Centralia (0-6) will host Peninsula next Wednesday.
