Blazers Pick Up First Volleyball Win Against Gators


In its 24th match of the season, the Centralia College volleyball team finally earned a point in the win column, defeating Green River at home Wednesday night in five sets, 18-25, 25-21, 25-16, 17-25, 15-9. 

The Trailblazers had a tough time settling in the first set, but from then on seized momentum, en route to a fairly dominant fifth set win, even after faltering in the fourth. 

Kylee Buchanan hit .611 with 14 kills and 41 digs to lead the Blazers at the net, and Tierra Washington added eight kills on .375 hitting with 20 digs. Katelyn Hunsaker dished out 28 assists and dug up 16 balls herself. 

The Blazers take on Pierce next on Friday.
