The Centralia College women’s basketball team came away with its first win in 623 days Wednesday, beating Skagit Valley 73-66.

“It was a great team win today,” first-year CC coach Tiffany Twiddy said. “Our athletes strung together four quarters of tough play today.”

Aberdeen alu, Madison Gore led all scorers with 27 points, and also came away with a team-leading eight rebounds and four steals.

Behind her, Foai Pula had 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting, and Maya Barnett had 10.

“We shot very well today,” Twiddy said. “Our athletes were playing loose and executing our offense. I was very proud of their efforts.”

Kate Carpenter held things down on defense with seven blocks, and also had four steals.

Next up is CC’s first home game; the Blazers (2-1) will host Olympic next Tuesday.

“Big picture, our team consists of all first-year players, and this was a huge win for us as a program,” Twiddy said.
