Blazers come back to earn point with SPS

The Centralia College men’s soccer team found itself in another hole late Wednesday but did enough to get out of it, scoring two goals in the final half hour to draw 2-2 with South Puget Sound.

“It seems to be our tendency that we don’t find our footing in the first half, but we're better climbing out of the hole,” CC coach Noel Vazquez said.

The Clippers led 1-0 at halftime and made it 2-0 in the 52nd minute.

Black Hills alum Jace Brookersen got things rolling in the 63rd, cutting the deficit to 2-1 with his team-leading fifth goal of the fall.

“He’s been pretty consistent, finding himself in the right places,” Vazquez said. “We’ve been really happy with him.”

Less than 10 minutes after that, Tristin Evans leveled the scoreline to give the Blazers (3-3-3, 2-2-2) a point to show for their efforts.

SPS outshot CC 9-7, but Victor Rojas made seven saves for the Blazers.

CC will host Highline on Saturday.
