Blazer Baseball Drops Fourth Straight in Loss to Green River

After ripping off nine-straight wins, the Centralia College baseball team is now on a four-game losing skid after taking an 8-6 loss at home to Green River on Saturday.

The Trailblazers led 4-3 through five innings but surrendered four runs to the Gators in the sixth inning to seal the defeat for CC.

Derek Beairsto started on the mound for the Blazers, striking out five and allowing three earned runs on three hits and five walks across four innings. Nolan Patterson struck out four and allowed one hit with four walks across 3.2 scoreless innings.

The Blazers were led offensively by River Terry, who was 4 for 5 with four RBIs. Matthew Beckworth was 1 for 2 with three walks, a run and an RBI. Casen Taggert scored twice.

This is not the start to division play that we expected or hoped for,” Centralia College coach Ben Harley said. “Luckily, we still have 21 games remaining to get back on track. Our goals as a team have not changed, and that’s to be playing our best baseball when playoffs begin.”

Centralia College (10-12-1, 0-4 West Region) next heads to Tacoma Community College for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. on Friday.
