The Black Hills girls soccer team came away with a road win in Adna on Thursday, when a first-half goal from Hailey Moxham went on to stand as the game-winner in the Wolves’ 1-0 victory.

In the 33rd minute, Moxham sent a shot towards the net that appeared to be saved, but just past the goal line and put the Wolves on top.

“I’m proud of the girls for holding strong and keeping their composure for the full 80 minutes,” Black Hills coach Jordan Owen said.

Black Hills threatened to add on throughout the second half, but Adna’s Lillian Montat was stout in net for the Pirates. She went on to finish the night with 18 saves.

“She made some saves off rebounds and just really made her size a presence in the goal,” Adna coach Patrick Richardson said. “Absolute MVP tonight for sure.”

Despite the loss, Richardson said that he feels the Pirates took a step in the right direction on Thursday, and he and his team are focused on continuing to improve the little things heading towards their next match.

Black Hills (4-0) will look to push its winning streak to five on Saturday at home against Capital, while the Pirates (0-1-1) will head to Yelm on Tuesday.
