The Wolves’ top boys and girls runners – Seth Thomasson and Maddie Knight – each recorded runner-up finishes individually that led their teams to second place placements behind Aberdeen in a triangular meet that also featured W.F. West on Wednesday at Pioneer Park.
Thomasson ran the course in 17:56.71, the first time he’s run 5,000-meters under 18 minutes. Roberto Jesus and Nathan Brazil pocketed top-10 finishes, coming in seventh and ninth, respectively. Asher Parascand and Jameson Ruiz finished in the top-15 for Black Hills.
W.F. West’s top-two boys runners for the majority of this season have been David Moeckel and Connor Clary. Both fired in new PRs, Moeckel placing fifth in 18:20.11 and Clary sixth in 18:51.68. Adam Butterfield (11th), Mason Ruiz (14th) and Marcello Carrasco (16th) rounded out the Bearcats scoring-five.
For the girls, Knight ran a touch over 22 minutes and squeaked by W.F. West’s Kate Turner, who PR’d on the day, by five seconds for second place. Averie Reynolds and Jane Birhard placed fifth and sixth for Black Hills while Adeline Rice and Olivia Dell recorded top-14 placements.
