The Black Hills football team picked up its first win of the 2026 campaign with a 39-14 throttling of Hudson’s Bay Friday night.

Black Hills, which led 26-7 at halftime, rushed for over 350 yards, led by sophomore quarterback James Ross IV with 149 yards and a touchdown. Junior Marshall Orona scored two touchdowns on the ground and rushed for 34 yards. Three others — senior Jesse Keith, senior Jaxon Simmons and sophomore Owen Aslakson — each scored a touchdown.

Keith also intercepted two passes and recovered a fumble on defense.

“I’m just really excited for these young men. They’ve been working extremely hard, and it’s awesome to see that work translate into a win,” Black Hills head coach Tom Spray said. “More importantly, I think the guys are really starting to buy into our brand of Wolves football. We ran the ball very effectively, and defensively, they were flying around and playing with energy and physicality.”

Black Hills (1-2) will host Hockinson Friday, Oct. 2.
