Black Hills Holds on to Beat Shelton

The Black Hills boys basketball team jumped out ahead of Shelton and hung on in the second half, beating the Highclimbers 55-51 at home on Wednesday.

A 10-point lead at halftime turned into a seven-point advantage after three quarters of play, and the Highclimbers continued to turn the screws down the stretch, with the Wolves going 3 for 6 from the free-throw line in the final quarter.

Simon Trujillo-Nysted and Johnnie Stallings shared the offensive lead with 14 points apiece for Black Hills. Stallings helped the Wolves off to their fast start, tallying 10 of his points in the first quarter, and also logged six assists, three steals, and five rebounds.

Keagen Rongen added 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Wolves on the glass. Jack Ellison had eight points and six steals, and Max Johnson had seven points to round things out.

Black Hills (2-3, 2-0 2A EvCo) will face Black Hills at home Friday to end its week.
