Belgiorno, Henderson pace Timberwolves to third place

Ignited by two victories apiece from Tony Belgiorno and Clark Henderson, Morton-White Pass’ boys track and field team totaled 124.5 points to finish in third at its home meet on Thursday night.

Winlock finished in fourth with 53 points while Mossyrock was in sixth with 39 points. On the girls side, the Cardinals were fourth with 55 points while the Timberwolves tied for fifth with 41 points and the Vikings had 34 points.

Belgiorno was the lone runner in the open 400 to break 56 seconds, winning the race in 55.35 seconds. Him and Max Lowe, who won the triple jump, finished 1-2 in the long jump. Henderson cruised in sweeping the hurdles, winning both by at least a second. Those three plus Noah Troy placed second in the 400 relay.



Mossyrock’s Marshall Brockway uncorked a toss of 44 feet, 6 inches to triumph in the shot put. The senior was the runner-up in the discus while Winlock’s Chase Trodahl won the 1,600 in 4:46.17.

On the girls side, the Cardinals had one of two area winners in freshman Kendyl Guenther clearing 4 feet, 8 inches in the high jump. She was second in the discus as was Victoria Sancho in the 100.

MWP’s Madyson Bryant secured first in the 400 with a time of 1:07.90.
