Beavers to send six to 1A Districts

In its first two years of existence, the Tenino boys golf team won a total of two matches. This year, the Beavers wrapped up their regular season with a 7-3 record, and are set to send six to the 1A District 4 tournament next week at Tumwater Valley Golf Course.

To make the cut to qualify for Districts, golfers had to average a 9-hole score of 60 or better across the season, excepting their worst outing.

David Dallaire, the only Beaver to make the cut at last year’s district tournament, is back at the head of the Tenino pack, averaging a score of 38.7, with his best outing coming against Elma at Oaksridge Golf Course on Sept. 14, when he carded a 34.

Aside from Dellaire, the Beavers will have Jaxson Gore (averaging 46.7), Ethan Baxter (48.5), Carson Hart (49.6), Preston Snyder (50.3) and Gavin Burke (52.4) on the course in Tumwater.

The district tournament will open Monday, with a cut after 18 holes and the top golfers moving on to Tuesday. District 4 will send its top nine placers to the 1A state tournament, which will be held May 21-22 at Riverside Golf Club in Chehalis.
