The Tenino baseball team stayed perfect over the weekend, as the Beavers swept Hoquiam 13-0 and 14-7 in a 1A Evergreen doubleheader on Saturday.
The Beavers (8-0, 5-0 1A Evergreen) blanked the Grizzlies in the first matchup, scoring 13 runs in just four innings to run-rule them in five.
Cody Strawn went all five on the bump, allowing just three hits while striking out six. He also went 3 for 4 at the plate with a double, two RBIs, and a pair of runs. Michael Vasser went 2 for 2 with a triple and four RBIs, while Will Feltus added two hits and scored two runs.
Tenino did all of its damage early in game two, scoring nine in the first, three in the second, and two in the third to build a 14-2 lead.
Hoquiam was able to plate a few runs in the middle innings, but not enough to put the outcome in doubt.
Vasser hit a home run and a triple to drive in three runs at the plate, while Austin Gonia drove in three while going 2 for 2 at the plate. Kellan Knox also collected two hits and drove in a run.
The Beavers are heading east this week, as they’ll take on Cle Elum on Tuesday before facing East Valley (Yakima) and Zillah on Wednesday in Yakima.
