Beavers sweep Eagles for first league win

The Tenino volleyball team won its first league game of the season on Tuesday, sweeping Elma 25-12, 25-12, 25-13.

“The girls really set the pace tonight,” Tenino coach Shauna Carpenter said. “The communication on the floor and excitement from the bench allowed us to play at our level.”

Sequoia Zimmer dished out 14 assists and had two aces while going 16 for 16 from the service line, Jaeleen Woodward had six digs, and Chloe Ellefson had four digs.

Katen Burkhardt posted 11 kills with seven digs, three aces, and two assists, while Kaytlin Holmes-Pickernell had three kills and a block kill at the. Kendall Bowe went 10 for 12 from the line with three aces, four kills, and three blocks, while Keira Laughlin and Violet Zimmer combined for five aces.

Tenino (5-6, 1-1 1A Evergreen) will be at home again on Thursday to face Hoquiam.

“We are going to use the energy from tonight to carry us forward,” Carpenter said.
