Guided once again by a stout defensive effort, the Tenino boys basketball team handily defeated Montesano Friday night at Brock Court, 50-33, in 1A Evergreen league play.
Austin Gonia had the hot hand in the first half, scoring 17 of his game-high 22 points, while Noah Schow picked up steam in the second half to finish it off for the Beavers.
All the while, the Tenino defense held the Bulldogs to single digits in each quarter save for the third, led by Brody Noonan’s tenacity on the defensive end.
Schow scored 21 points for the Beavers.
Tenino takes on Hoquiam in more league action at home next Tuesday.
