Beavers Steamroll Grizzlies

The Tenino football team had little trouble returning to its winning ways, running through Hoquiam in a 50-14 win in 1A Evergreen play Friday.

“The boys understood the assignment,” head coach Cary Nagel said. “We have a league that's very competitive and they worked hard at practice. They put their best foot forward.”

Indeed, the Beavers put their best feet forward — one in front of the other — all evening long, in a dominant rushing performance. Tenino’s lone pass of the game went for 3 yards, but the Beavers put up 513 yards on the ground, averaging over 8.5 yards per carry.

Dylan Spicer led the effort, going for 193 yards and four touchdowns on 23 carries. Randy Marti averaged over 10 yards a carry himself, finding the end zone twice on 14 rushes for 158 yards.

“Randy Marti had a good night running the ball, Spicer was good,” Nagel said. “The offense was clicking.”

Hoquiam found the end zone once early but stayed on the one touchdown for most of the night until the very end of the game, according to Nagel.

Tenino (5-1, 1-1 league) will host Elma next Friday for homecoming on its final home game of the regular season.
