The Tenino baseball team’s win streak improved to four after the Beavers took care of Rochester 14-4 in five innings at home on Tuesday.
Leland White got the Beavers on the board with a solo home run in the first, and three more came across to score in the second to put Tenino up 4-0.
The Warriors responded with four in the top of the third, including an RBI single from Tyler Huston, but Tenino added four more in the bottom half to retake the lead.
That score held until the bottom of the fifth. An error and a strikeout put one on with one out, and the Beavers drew five straight walks to bring in three runs.
A two-run single from Michael Vassar made it 13-4, and an RBI fielder’s choice from Hunter Sweet served as the run-rule walk-off winner.
Austin Gonia struck out six and allowed four runs (two earned) in three innings, and Zeke Haskins struck out three in two shutout innings of relief.
White finished with his home run and two runs batted in, and he reached base in all four of his plate appearances. Vassar finished 2 for 4, including a double, and he drove in four runs.
Kole Smith finished 3 for 3 at the dish to lead the Rochester lineup, while Huston and Ethan Rodriguez both drove in a run.
The two teams will meet again at Rochester on Friday for a doubleheader. Tenino (4-0, 1-0 1A Evergreen) is off until then, while Rochester (1-2, 0-1 1A Evergreen) will host Ridgefield on Wednesday.
