Beavers overcome turnovers and penalties to top Mountaineers

Posted

It was far from the prettiest game for the Tenino football team on Friday night in Rainier, but the Beavers did just enough to escape with a 19-14 win over the Mountaineers.

Tenino built a 19-0 lead thanks to a touchdown pass from Evan Morey to Easton Miller and two Mason Metcalf touchdown runs, but turnovers and penalties allowed Rainier to hang around.

The Mountaineers attempted to string together a comeback, scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter, but ultimately, the Beavers were able to hold on for the win despite 21 penalties and four turnovers.

More stats will be added to this article when they are made available.

Tenino (1-0) will look for its second win at home next week against Kalama, while Rainier (0-1) will look to get back to .500 at home against Pe Ell/Willapa Valley. Both games are on Friday, Sept. 11.
