The Tenino boys basketball team couldn’t seal the deal in Montesano on Thursday, losing its 1A Evergreen matchup 55-53 to the Bulldogs for their first league defeat of the season.
The Beavers went ahead by eight points going into halftime, but proceeded to lose the lead in a one-sided third quarter, and couldn’t make up the needed ground in the fourth.
Noah Schow scored 24 points, while Austin Gonia had 15 and a team-high nine assists. Will Feltus dished out five assists.
The Beavers (9-4, 4-1 1A Evergreen) will try to bounce back next Wednesday, at Hoquiam.
