Beavers looking to take next step in 1A Evergreen League

After a successful 2023 season that saw Tenino finish third in District 4 and return to the state tournament, the Beavers can set their sights high for 2024.

Easton Snider is out, but returning are seven other starters, including Austin Gonia, who caught every inning of last season and committed just two errors. At the plate, he hit .400 with a home run, 11 doubles, and 29 RBIs.

The all-league trio of Kellan Knox, Cody Strawn, and Will Feltus are also all back this spring. Feltus is already firing on all cylinders in the box, slugging 1.083 with a double, triple, and a home run, and he’s also already up to five runs batted in.

Strawn, Carson Hart, and Knox have been effective on the mound early in the year as well, and as a result, Tenino is off to a strong 3-0 start that includes wins over 2A Rochester and Overlake, a squad that made the 1A state tournament last season.

The Beavers will need that to continue as the season goes on to stay near the top of the Evergreen League, one that features Montesano and Elma.

The Bulldogs return league MVP Bode Poler and four other first-team all-leaguers, while Elma finished one win shy of the state tournament last spring and welcome’s back Grant Vessey and Carter Studer.
