The Tenino volleyball team earned a hard-fought victory at home on Tuesday, taking down Napavine 25-21, 25-22, 21-25, 25-22 to snap a two-game skid.

“The girls capitalized when it mattered,” Tenino coach Shauna Carpenter said. “We got slow in transition in the third set but came out to win in the fourth. We played to win tonight. They wanted it and it showed.”

Sequoia Zimmer logged 16 digs, 13 assists, and an ace while going a perfect 17 for 17 from the service line, while Jaeleen Woodward added 13 digs and missed just one serve on 14 attempts.

Katen Burkhardt tallied 15 kills, six digs, four aces, and a pair of blocks kills while going 14 for 16 from the line. Kendall Bowe finished with six kills, four block kills, and an ace, while Keira Laughlin ended the night with nine digs, a pair of assists, and a pair of aces.

Napavine coach Monica Dailey said that the Tigers did well in the serve receive and that her setters made some great decisions, but added that they struggled with their attack.

Even with the offensive inconsistency, they were still able to go on a few runs to erase deficits of several points to tie the game at different points in the game.

“The girls worked hard and never gave up,” Dailey said. “We’ll get back into the gym and work on finding the court with our offense.”

Lilly Grabianowski didn’t miss a serve and tallied 18 digs, while Anna Guenther was also perfect from the line and had eight digs.

Makayla Brett finished with 15 assists and seven digs, Lilly Blair added 14 assists, and Kennedy Purvis notched 14 kills.

Both teams will be back in action on Thursday. Tenino (2-3) will head to Aberdeen, while Napavine (1-2) will be at home again to host Raymond-South Bend.
