The Tenino girls basketball team couldn’t get rolling on Friday night, as the Beavers fell to Montesano 64-22 for their ninth-straight loss.

The Bulldogs blitzed out of the gate, scoring 25 points in the first quarter and 18 more in the second to open up a 43-9 lead.

The Beavers’ (2-16, 0-5 1A Evergreen) struggles continued in the second half, as they added just two points in the third quarter.

“We just couldn't get into an offense,” Tenino coach Scott Ashmore said.

On the other side, Evanjillie Dalan and Tieander Olson controlled the game, as Dalan scored 25 points and Olson added 13.

“They did a lot of pounding inside to Dalan,” Ashmore said. “She just hurt us inside big time. That one-two punch between those two girls, they’re tough to handle.”

Brianna Asay led the Beavers with nine points. Brynn Williams only scored one point, but Ashmore commended her ability to lead the offense on what was otherwise a tough offensive day.

“She was attacking when she needed to,” Ashmore said. “She was our main ball-handler and she did a pretty good job of that.”

The Beavers are back in action on Tuesday, when they’ll host Hoquiam.
