Beavers, Bobcats play to scoreless draw

Eighty minutes wasn’t enough for either Tenino or Aberdeen at Stewart Field, where the Beavers and Bobcats played to a 0-0 draw on Saturday.

Tenino seemed to have the upper hand throughout the first half, and their best chance of the game came just before the break.

Amber Johnson connected with Maria Summers, who just missed the back post with a shot.

“We were a little unlucky to go into half 0-0,” Tenino co-head coach Dave Montgomery said.

The field flipped in the second half, as Aberdeen became the team that was generating more chances. By the time the Beavers got back into a rhythm offensively, only minutes remained in the match.

“The lesson learned today is that if you want to come away with results, you gotta be ready to play a full 80,” Montgomery said. “We weren’t ready to play a full 80 today.”

Montgomery commended Gracie Sweet, who made four saves in net, and Callie Mickelson, who he said flew around the field.

The Beavers (3-1-1) will look to get back in the win column at Onalaska on Tuesday.
