Beavers blow doors off Winlock

Posted

The Tenino girls soccer team overmatched Winlock from the very start Saturday, blowing out the Cardinals 15-0 in a non-league match on the Black Top.

The Beavers (4-0) matched their scoring total from their first three games in 80 minutes, starting fast with four goals in the opening 10.

Callie Mickelson, Holly Thoren, and Abagail Archibald all bagged hat tricks on the evening.

Those three combined to make it 6-0 at halftime. In the second half, coach Dave Montgomery rotated in his subs, then moved his defensive starters into attacking roles. Left back MJ Gallwas scored her first varsity goal in the 43rd minute, before fellow defender Kendra Cutlip got her scoring total started, as did Janessa Culp.

Goalkeeper Dakota Lees moved to the outfield and scored her first varsity goal in the 74th minute, and added another in the 78th while the Beavers tried to just hold possession in the attacking third.

Tenino is set to face Toledo on Tuesday.
