Beavers battle back to top Grizzlies in five

The Tenino volleyball team trailed after three sets at home against Hoquiam on Thursday, but the Beavers battled back to win 24-26, 25-21, 18-25, 25-14, 15-12.

“We executed our game plan and showed the fight we knew was there,” Tenino coach Shauna Carpenter said.

Carpenter commended Jaeleen Woodward, calling her a “spark plug,” as she finished with 13 digs and six aces while going a perfect 24 for 24 from the service line. 

Katen Burkhardt was also impressive, tallying 26 digs, 24 kills, four blocks, and two assists. Kendall Bowe added eight kills, seven digs, and a pair of blocks, while Keira Laughlin tallied six digs and two aces while going 20 for 21 from the line.

Tenino (6-6, 2-1 1A Evergreen) will head to Rochester on Tuesday.
