The W.F. West boys soccer team fell behind early in Tumwater on Tuesday, but the Bearcats battled back and earned a 2-1 win over Black Hills to remain undefeated in league play.
The Wolves opened the scoring ten minutes in, but it took the Bearcats just seven minutes to tie it up at one.
Adrian Jamies got the tying goal, and the 1-1 score held until the 52nd minute, when Israel Lopez Cruz gave W.F. West the lead. The Bearcats didn’t add on despite having more opportunities, but they held on to the lead until the final whistle.
By the end of the night, the Bearcats outshot the Wolves 12-2.
“The boys played well,” W.F. West coach Allen Anderson said. “We created several great chances.”
Anderson gave credit to Lopez Cruz while also commending Riley Carter for his defensive effort.
The Wolves (3-5-2, 1-3 2A EvCo) will be back at home to host Shelton, which is also when W.F. West (5-4, 4-0 2A EvCo) will head to Tumwater.
