The W.F. West soccer team won its sixth-straight game on Friday, topping Black Hills 2-0 to move to stay unbeaten in league play.

Jeremy Thompson got the Bearcats on the board (6-1, 5-0 2A EvCo) in the first half with a long shot, and Adrian James doubled the lead with a similar shot from about 35 yards out.

While W.F. West had several chances to extend their lead, tallying 23 shots on net, the Black Hills defense made things tough in the box.

“It is nice to score a couple goals from distance,” W.F. West coach Allen Anderson said. “We did create some chances, but they made everything difficult. Nothing came easy. It was a good challenge for all 80 minutes.”

Friday’s game was the Bearcats’ seventh in a two-week stretch to open the season, and now they’ll get a week off before continuing league play next week.

“This is a much-needed break for the guys to get healthy,” Anderson said. “We need to be on top of our game.”

W.F. West is back in action on Friday at home against Rochester.
