Bearcats shut down Highclimbers at home

The W.F. West girls tennis team earned a win out of the break on Monday, taking down Shelton 6-0 on its home courts.

“All of the teams played very strong, aggressive tennis,” W.F. West coach Megan Weelander said. “They reacted well to adjustments made by the other team.”

The closest match of the day was the top singles match between W.F. West’s Emery Dalrymple and Shelton’s Willow Louingfosi. Dalrymple took the first set 6-0, but had to reset after dropping the second set 2-6. She did just that, winning 6-2 to win the match.

“She made great improvements, got refocused, and finished the match off strong,” Welladner said. “That was a great win for her.”

Each of the other five matches were won in straight sets, and each Bearcat single or doubles team lost just one game in each match.

The Bearcats will be back in action on Thursday in Tumwater.
