The W.F. West boys basketball team snapped its three-game losing streak on Tuesday, beating Aberdeen 81-60 at home for its first league win of the season.
It was just a two-point game after one, but the Bearcats pulled away before halftime by outscoring the Bobcats 21-6 in the second frame.
Aberdeen tried to mount a late comeback by scoring 23 points in the final frame, but W.F. West saved its best for last by scoring 28 to maintain its lead and roll.
Carlos Vallejo led the Bearcats in scoring with 24 points, and he grabbed seven rebounds.
Grady Westlund had a monster night in the paint, scoring 20 points and hauling in 24 rebounds. It’s his second 20-20 game in a row, as he put up 22 points and 22 rebounds in W.F. West’s loss to Hockinson on Monday.
Hayden Rooney scored 13 points and had four assists, and Weston Potter recorded nine points, five rebounds, and four assists. Ross Kelley and Wyatt Hoffman both scored four points, and Kelley also added four assists.
W.F. West (5-8, 1-2 2A EvCo) will hit the road on Thursday to play Shelton.
