Bearcats Fall in Tight Five-Setter to Wolves

Falling behind by two sets, the W.F. West volleyball team came out and nearly completed the full-match comeback, but fell in five sets to Black Hills on the road, 25-14, 25-20, 24-26, 25-27, 15-7.

Morgan Rogerson again led the Bearcats with a team-high 18 kills, and Mari Ceesay and Courtney Jones led the defensive effort in the back row once the Bearcats warmed up from the 30-minute bus ride.

“We came out a little slow in the two games,” Bearcats assistant coach Rylee White said. “We did a lot of good things, but they hit our seams really well. There was a definite energy shift in the third and fourth sets and we started to adjust really well to where they were hitting the ball. The girls fought tooth and nail on defense and placed the ball well.”

The Bearcats will hope to bounce back after a bye this Thursday, taking on Rochester next Tuesday on the road, while the Wolves play at Centralia on Thursday.
