A 26-year-old Winlock man was arrested Tuesday morning for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl and giving her marijuana.

Bailey Dorning was booked into the Lewis County Jail at approximately 3:43 a.m. on Feb. 4, according to jail records, and has been charged with four counts of third-degree rape of a child and one count of distribution of marijuana to a person under the age of 18.

Dorning’s bail is set at $250,000.

The victim’s mother reported the sexual assault to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office on Feb. 4 after the victim reportedly “admitted to her that she’d been having sexual intercourse with Bailey Dorning,” according to court documents.

The victim reported that she was under the influence of marijuana, which she said Dorning gave to her, during all sexual contact with Dorning.

When questioned by a deputy, Dorning allegedly “said he thought (the victim) was 15 years old” and said “he should not have let her flirt with him,” according to court documents.

While Dorning denied allegations that he gave the victim marijuana, investigators reportedly found a text message from Dorning to the victim reading “you wonna dab or smoke some bud in a little bit,” according to court documents.

A deputy noted that Dorning “was nervous while speaking with (the deputy), with sweaty palms in 30-degree weather,” according to court documents.

A no-contact order protecting the victim is in place. His conditions of release include a provision prohibiting Dorning from contacting minors until his case is resolved.

Judge Paul Strophy denied Dorning’s request Tuesday for supervised contact with his three biological children, who are all under the age of 5.

“We’d have to have a supervision plan before we considered such a modification,” Strophy said Tuesday.

Arraignment was scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 6.
