Tony L. League, 36, of Centralia, and Carrie A. Berg, 22, Olympia, were arrested Nov. 10 after Centralia police reportedly found them inside a stolen car on Harrison Avenue.

League and Berg made separate preliminary appearances in Lewis County Superior Court Wednesday for different charges and unrelated incidents.

League was charged with one count of felony harassment, a Class C felony punishable by up to five years in prison and $10,000 in fines, for allegedly threatening to kill his former girlfriend via text messages.

According to court documents, Centralia police first responded to the harassment complaint on Oct. 27 and met with the former girlfriend.

Police obtained a copy of a message allegedly sent by League to the woman, which read, “B---- I'll take your life don't tell me what the f---  I can and can't do."

Another message allegedly read, “Picture of a threat is a promise test me."

Berg was charged with one count each of possession of a stolen vehicle, a Class B felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and $20,000 in fines, and possession of a controlled substance, a gross misdemeanor.

According to court documents, on Nov. 10, Centralia police stopped a Honda Pilot that had been reported stolen. Though League was reportedly driving and Berg was a passenger, officers confirmed with the Lacey Police Department that Berg was the initial suspect.

Lacey police had reportedly contacted Berg earlier about the stolen SUV and indicated they had video of her driving it.

Berg allegedly told the Lacey officer “she had parked the vehicle and then never saw it again,” according to court documents.

“League was interviewed about how he came to be in the vehicle. He said that Berg had picked him up in the vehicle the previous day. He claimed that he had no idea the vehicle was reported stolen,” court documents state.

After observing suspected drugs and paraphernalia, Centralia officers executed a search warrant and reportedly found “a scale, one Xanax pill, a vial of prescription pills, and a small bag with a powder substance” that was field-tested and came up positive for cocaine, according to court documents.

The items were allegedly found in one of the bags associated with Berg.

During his preliminary hearing, Judge Joely Yeager set League’s bail at $200,000 cash or bond, citing League’s significant felony history which, according to court documents, includes first-degree robbery, felony harassment, attempting to elude, unlawful possession of a firearm and multiple protection-order violations.

According to Senior Deputy Prosecutor Scott Jackson, League was released from custody in 2023 after serving an assault conviction.

Before Yeager’s ruling, defense attorney Rachael Tiller indicated League had informed her of a bed date scheduled for the following day at a nearby treatment facility.

League said most of his issues stemmed from drug use and he was trying to get help for it.

An arraignment was scheduled for Nov. 13. Don Blair is assigned to represent him.

Yeager set Berg’s bail at $10,000 unsecured. According to Jackson, Berg has limited criminal history.

Her arraignment was scheduled for Nov. 20. Albert Didcock will represent her.
