B Movement Pilates is growing and celebrating its new location in downtown Chehalis with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at noon on Thursday, Nov. 20, followed by a grand opening event on Saturday, Nov. 22.
“The ribbon-cutting ceremony offers a sneak preview of our new space,” said owner Beth Schoelkopf in a news release from the Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce.
The new studio is located at 463 N. Market Blvd.
Hosted by the chamber of commerce, the events mark an exciting milestone for the business. The grand opening celebration on Nov. 22 will feature studio tours, class demonstrations and healthy snacks, as well as special discounts for those who register for classes that day.
Schoelkopf’s journey into business ownership began unexpectedly. After college, she worked as a financial analyst and in payroll for the State of Washington, with no plans to open a business.
Her passion for Pilates — and the lack of regular classes in the area — eventually inspired her to take a leap when a friend offered her a vacant space in the Fairway Shopping Center, according to the release.
She became a certified Pilates instructor and initially balanced her new venture with her state job, teaching classes at night. Less than a year ago, B Movement Pilates moved to downtown Chehalis and has since outgrown its current space.
“The new studio allows me to expand my classes and grow our offerings,” Schoelkopf said. What began with seven classes a week has grown to 32 weekly classes and counting.
In addition to expanded Pilates sessions, the new location will also offer Barre classes, a low-impact workout that combines elements of ballet, yoga and Pilates. Classes are 50-minute sessions, and the studio is open seven days a week. Schoelkopf has also added two new instructors to her team.
