Centralia author Steven Craig will discuss his book “All Present and Accounted For” during a presentation at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Vernetta Smith Chehalis Timberland Library.
The book tells the true story of the grounding and near-sinking of the Coast Guard Cutter Jarvis near Dutch Harbor, Alaska, in November 1972. It focuses on the heroic efforts that saved the ship and crew, according to a news release from Craig.
The author interviewed more than 50 crewmembers and others involved in the rescue to capture the full story of the incident.
Following this presentation, Craig will give a brief overview of his upcoming book, “A Quick Guide to Emergency Preparedness and Response for Seniors,” which is due for release in December.
Craig is a resident of Centralia and is a retired postmaster of Oakville.
He served more than 38 years in the Coast Guard, both active and in the reserves, and retired as a captain in 2011.
