Application period opens for community-proposed changes to Thurston County land use, zoning and development code

Posted

Thurston County will begin accepting applications for proposed amendments to its land-use, zoning and development codes starting Monday and running through Nov. 14. Anyone may apply for a comprehensive plan and or development code amendment during that time.

A comprehensive plan amendment is a change to Thurston County’s long-term growth and land use plan, which guides decisions on housing, transportation, the environment, and community development. A development code amendment change updates the county rules and standards that put the comprehensive plan into action, such as zoning, building requirements, and land use regulations.

After the application period closes, county staff will prepare a list of all submitted applications and provide the list to the Board of County Commissioners for its review. This is the first step of the county docketing process.
