The first annual Chettie’s Antique Engine and Tractor Show is set for this weekend in Grand Mound and will feature hit-and-miss engines, tractors and hot rods.

The free two-day event will be held at 7505 183rd Ave. on the corner of 183rd Avenue and Sargent Road in Rochester from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Food booths and 19 crafts booths will also be on site, and Grand Mound-based rock band Exit 88 will play after the event Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m. Donation baskets and a raffle will be available.

Grand Mound-based woodworker Chettie White is organizing the event and was inspired to showcase the engines and tractors after taking a trip to his home state of Maine with his teenage children, according to a news release. His father had recently passed away, and he was there to collect a few things that his father had left him, including several antique hit-and-miss engines and a 1926 Ford Model T.

Years after the trip, White and his daughter Jayden joined the Early Day Gas Engine and Tractor Association out of Shelton and started going to shows.

“I took my engines to three shows last summer, but I wanted more,” White said in the release. “We will have tractors, hot rods and antique engines and implements in the field.”

One of the engines that White will display this weekend, a 1930 Kewanne, was used to pump water in a hotel. He will also be showing his 1904 Alamo 7 horsepower, 1913 Rock Island 3 horsepower, and several others.
