Annual spring plant sale returns to Southwest Washington fairgrounds, supporting local Master Gardener programs

The annual Spring Plant Sale, a long‑standing tradition hosted by the Master Gardener Foundation of Lewis County, returns to the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds this month.

The event showcases a wide selection of locally grown plants cultivated by WSU Extension Master Gardener volunteers, whose work supports horticultural education and outreach throughout the county.

The plant sale will be held at the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds, Blue Pavilion, 2555 N. National Ave., Chehalis.

The Spring Plant Sale is the foundation’s primary fundraiser, with all plants grown by WSU Extension Master Gardener volunteers. Proceeds directly support the WSU Extension Master Gardener Program in Lewis County, helping fund free public classes, youth programs, community outreach, diagnostic clinics and scholarships, according to a news release from the WSU Master Gardeners. Community participation ensures these educational services remain accessible at no cost to local residents.

The plant sale will run during the following dates and times:

• Saturday, May 16: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• Sunday, May 17: 9 a.m. until sold out

What’s available:

• Veggie starts (including tomatoes), herbs and annual flowers

• Perennials, shrubs and trees

• “Ask a Master Gardener” plant‑diagnostic and gardening clinic

• Handcrafted items created by the volunteer craft committee

• These items will be available through a raffle; tickets are $1 each.

Shoppers are encouraged to arrive early for the best selection, as popular varieties tend to sell quickly. Wagons or wheelbarrows are recommended to make collecting plants easier while browsing.
