Annual Centralia Pet Show Is Best-Attended Ever, Despite Library Power Outage

A pony, lots of rabbits and countless other animal cuties — plus a molting snake — helped make a Twin Cities tradition the best-attended ever on Tuesday.

The annual Twin Cities Pet Show had about 300 attendees and about 100 pets entered, according to Senila Gomez-Beloz, manager of the Centralia Timberland Library.

“My favorites are the chickens. I love that part,” Gomez-Beloz told The Chronicle.

The event went on despite a power outage that shut down the library for the entire day. Gomez-Beloz said she heard a transformer pop as she walked into work two hours before the pet show.

“I heard a loud explosion,” she said. “All the car alarms went off. It was rather intense at 8:30 at the morning.”

The electrical problem was fixed and the library is back open today.
