William “Bill” L. and Mary Ann Hassler celebrated 70 years of marriage on Dec. 5. They have lived most of their lives in Washington state.

They were married on Dec. 5, 1953.

Bill was a professional painter. He worked in the local area and painted many of the downtown buildings in the Centralia-Chehalis area. Mary Ann worked for the Department of Licensing in Olympia as a supervisor.

In 1961, Bill enrolled in Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, to become a pastor. He became a pioneer pastor to a new Assembly of God Church in Waveland, Mississippi. He later pastored at other Assembly of God churches in Toledo, Forks and at the Jackson Prairie Assembly of God Church at Mary’s Corner. After retiring from full time ministry in 2000, Hassler spent 10 years as a seasonal pastor in a retirement park in Yuma, Arizona. Altogether, he has served over 50 years as a pastor.

The Hasslers have three children: Diane (Dave) Lipinski, of Centralia; Darryl (Joyce) Hassler, of Chehalis; and Donna Kohler (Michael White), of Napavine.

They have seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
