Powered by a defensive-focused final three quarters, the Pirates came away with a 65-25 victory over the Grizzlies on Monday night in day one of the Adna Holiday Hoops Tournament. It’s the seventh straight victory for Adna and it proved to be the largest margin of victory to date.
The Pirates were only up by six after the first frame, but turned on the jets with a 21-point second quarter. They allowed a grand total of 13 points in the last 24 minutes after allowing 12 in the first. McKenna Torrey led four in double digits with 18 points and she also recorded nine steals and six assists.
Rhylee Beebe chipped in 14 points and eight dimes, Alyssa Carroll had 13 points and Kamryn Freeman notched 10 points. Adna will take on one of the 1B powers in Neah Bay on Tuesday in the second day of the tourney.
